Overview

Canton Network is a privacy-enabled interoperable blockchain network designed for institutional use. Unlike traditional blockchains, Canton uses DAML smart contracts and supports atomic transactions across multiple applications. Key differentiators:
  • Privacy by design - Transaction data is only visible to participants
  • Interoperability - Applications can transact atomically across the network
  • Institutional grade - Designed for the privacy and compliance needs of regulated financial institutions
  • DAML - Uses the DAML smart contract language (by Digital Asset)

Who Built Canton?

Canton Network was created by Digital Asset. Its shared infrastructure, the Global Synchronizer, is operated by Super Validators, who govern it by voting on Canton Improvement Proposals (CIPs). The network is designed to bring institutional finance on-chain while maintaining the privacy and compliance requirements that regulated entities need.
