Overview

Canton Network is a privacy-enabled interoperable blockchain network designed for institutional use. Unlike traditional blockchains, Canton uses DAML smart contracts and supports atomic transactions across multiple applications. Key differentiators:
  • Privacy by design - Transaction data is only visible to participants
  • Interoperability - Applications can transact atomically across the network
  • Institutional grade - Built by and for major financial institutions
  • DAML - Uses the DAML smart contract language (by Digital Asset)

Who Built Canton?

Canton Network was created by Digital Asset and is governed by a consortium of major financial institutions acting as Super Validators. The network is designed to bring institutional finance on-chain while maintaining the privacy and compliance requirements that regulated entities need.
